I wouldn't get 圎nviro if I had the choice today, I may end up getting Active Sky just for their wind/turbulence depiction and the peace of mind of money well spent given their record on the fsx/p3d world.Numerous new features have been added in this update, starting with GPU Ray-Casted Volumetric Clouds, compatibility with live-weather plugins such as ASXP or FSGRW, improved performance, lighting improvements and much more. I personally hope that 1.10 will be the holy grail but considering 1.08/.09 were also teased and tested for months just to be released as a unusable buggy mess that never got fixed. XEnviro stated they won't be supporting the 1.07 version anymore (their only usable version in my opinion) and that it may stop working anytime as new Xplane updates drop. I got 圎nviro shortly before the Xplane 11 release and totally agree. But that probably won't be for a couple of months yet. I'm sure there will be plenty of reviews on it once it is released.
If you decide to go that route with 圎nviro I would wait until the people who had previously purchased 圎nviro download the update to 1.10 and check it out. Thanks for the input John.Ĭorrect me if I'm wrong, but I thought I read somewhere that active sky wasnt going to depict any cloud formations just yet it is more just a real time weather enhancer with cloud texturing arriving at a later date? You can take a look at the development at the following URL: One thing to consider with 圎nviro is that 1.10 is going to give you snow in the winter that will work on all scenery, ortho, photo, and default.
One thing I noted in one of the videos was that SkyMaxx Pro 4.7 can change the draw distance for the weather, but that seems to have a big hit on the frames. That looked ok but that's spending quite a bit for weather. The active sky xp was purchased to give me something better than the default weather while I'm waiting for 圎nviro 1.10. The latest I've seen the individual was running SkyMaxx Pro 4.7 for the clouds along with Active Sky XP for the weather generation. I wasn't thrilled with the weather it offers out of the box (it's basically cloud replacements).SO I purchased active sky XP and also fired up my old x-vision presets, to try and get the atmosphere back on track. Perhaps others can give you their opinion on other weather engines. So I installed Skymaxx pro, w/ real weather connecter (something I purchased back when Skymaxx was the only addon for X-Plane). It has the same range limitations as the default weather. militarys X-Plane Program comprised a family of Boeing 767.
I still don't like the way it generates an overcast layer. With the third major update, the 727 Series Professional V3 appears to have. It offers additional controls over the default weather but overall isn't that much better than the default. I'm using the high quality textures in that and am fairly pleased with the results, although there is some repitition in the clouds. Introducing HiFis first weather engine for the X-Plane platform Just testing the waters to see what sky maxx can do. I have looked at other weather engines and got tired of waiting for 圎nviro 1.10, so I recently purchased Active Sky XP. I had purchased 圎nviro back when version 1.07 was released and have been disappointed in it.
